HomesNow! Not Later
August 10th, 2019
A home is important, and this month Crystal Creek has contributed to an organization whose focus is to build low-cost housing for the homeless population. The group began in 2017 and operates solely on volunteers and private donations who are aiding the transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency. The organization is based in Bellingham, WA and has current permission to build on the Lummi Nation’s land in Whatcom County, WA.
HomesNow! Not Later stands out because they work with individuals who are willing to work hard to get off the streets and become self-supporting and stabilized.
Each house can be a home for one or two homeless people, and Crystal Creek’s hope is to donate enough to buy one every quarter. Over 5 years this equates to 20 operational and secure tiny homes for up to 40 people. As people begin to support themselves, they can move on to more permanent housing and the houses built by this organization and be reused by others in need.
